Stephanie A: Accountant

Spotted: Downtown SF

What are you up to today?
I just went and got a birthday present for a friend of mine who's turning . . . I think she's like 73. So I just went to Gump's and got her something. We're going to House of Prime Rib later. And I'm an accountant so I'm going back to work, and my little dog Winston is here today.

That's so great — they let you take your dog to work?
Ah, they let Winston come to work because he's so good.

What drew you to accounting?
Just working with small businesses and seeing a need for accurate accounting. So that's why I work with Burr Pilger Mayer, and I work with mainly owner-managed businesses and business enterprise service team. It's really fun — it's a great company, I get to help wonderful people work with businesses that I really care about, and in San Francisco. I'm actually from San Francisco — born and raised here.

What do you like doing outside of work?
I love being in the city, I love being outdoors, I love hanging out with the dogs. I went stand-up paddleboarding this weekend and the dogs come on the board and they have such a good time. I also went to this great Cowgirlpalooza that happened this weekend — it was a Western show. It was great — there was a Patsy Cline cover band over at El Rio. So we went and danced, and it was just good to stay in the city over the long weekend — it was really nice. It was a little dead.

What's something that caught your interest lately?
Well, I'm back into Patsy Cline after listening to the cover band last night!

How would you describe your personal style? I love this jacket and these culottes you have on!
I wear a lot of black, and for work I keep it pretty simple. And I do wear a lot of black just because it's easy. It's a little edgier, I like a lot of leather, I also wear a lot of animal prints, heels and boots.

Those heels are great, by the way!
These heels are from like 2010. I found them on sale and I didn't wear them for a year! That's what I do a lot — I just find things that I like on sale, and then I might hold on to them because they don't quite work yet with my style. But these have been really comfortable.

I was going to say, how do you handle heels in SF?
You know, I'm used to it. I have a lot of heel repairs. These ones will probably go in after next time, just from walking around. I take BART from the Mission here, so I walk around a lot!
